Subway declares biggest menu change since 1965

The sandwich-making king is launching a whole new way to Subway – but is it the right mood?

Subway is on a mission to grow its business and that means change. The billion-dollar company has announced it is launching a new Subway Series menu.

The offering evolution represents Subway’s biggest menu change in 58 years. The move is part of the brand’s wide strategic growth plan, which also includes opening new locations, improving operations, and enhancing digitalization.

Subway has conducted extensive research as it seeks to understand customer perceptions of the brand. The company served one million new Series Subs in 340 UK restaurants and claims opinions were very positive.

The new menu will roll out across 2300-plus stores in UK and Ireland. This means guests will be able to choose from 15 new chef-inspired creations. Customers can customize these as a Sub, Wrap, SubMelt, or Salad.

“In developing the new menu, guests told us that they wanted food tailored to their lifestyle,” said Nigel Doughty, Managing Director, UK and Ireland.

“In order to meet that need, we’ve evolved our menu and are putting the power back into the hands of guests, so that there are now two ways to Subway – created by us or created by you.

“We know there is sometimes consumer fatigue when it comes to ordering quick-service food, and that essentially there are two types of people.

“Those who want to build their own Sub, and others who would prefer that their delicious sandwich is created for them,” he added.

Subway has also announced it will keep momentum going as it continues to improve across all aspects of the brand.
