Tesla’s long-anticipated Hollywood diner is more than a place to charge your electric vehicle. It is a full-service restaurant and entertainment hub, offering a curated menu of nostalgic American fare with a futuristic twist.
Opened on Santa Monica Boulevard at 4:20 p.m. on July 21, the retro-futuristic site fuses a classic drive-in with modern tech. It features two massive movie screens playing public domain clips, 75 V4 Superchargers and a rooftop terrace. But at the heart of the experience is the food.
What’s on the Menu
The Tesla Diner menu pays homage to 1950s staples while accommodating today’s tastes. Visitors will find smash burgers, crinkle-cut fries, fried chicken sandwiches and milkshakes served in Cybertruck-themed packaging.
For plant-based diners, the menu offers a vegan burger, vegan chili fries and oat milk options for shakes. Sides include onion rings, tater tots and house-made coleslaw.
The drink menu is kept simple but brand-conscious. Sodas are served in reusable Tesla-branded bottles, and limited-edition frozen drinks rotate weekly. Guests can order directly from their vehicle using the Tesla touchscreen or mobile app.
Prices are modest by Los Angeles standards. A burger and fries combo comes in under $15. Milkshakes cost $5. Vegan alternatives are priced slightly higher but remain competitive.
Service That Complements the Setting
Meals are brought to customers by staff on roller skates, reinforcing the diner’s 1950s aesthetic. Tesla’s humanoid robot Optimus also participates by handing out popcorn during scheduled demo hours. Guests can dine at retro booths inside, remain in their vehicles for carhop service or head to the rooftop seating area.
Orders are typically ready within 10 to 12 minutes. The curated movie clips playing on outdoor screens are timed to last about 30 minutes, which matches most EV charging sessions.
Tesla has also integrated entertainment with dining through trivia games, merch kiosks and augmented-reality experiences available on-site.
More Than Just Food
The Hollywood diner reflects a shift in Tesla’s strategy. The company is transforming charging stations into destinations, not just pit stops. On opening day, guests lined up down the block and social media was flooded with images of the chrome building, neon lighting and skaters delivering Cybertruck-branded trays.
This is the first of what Tesla hints could become a national series of diner-and-charger hybrids. Potential expansions include locations near Gigafactory Texas and Starbase in South Texas.
For now, the Tesla Diner in Los Angeles delivers a unique combination of food, entertainment and innovation which is anchored by a menu that respects tradition, but looks toward the future.
